I made it! I am here in Dar es Salaam, staying at the Peacock Hotel (safe and close to the port). If I tried to list all of the things the Lord has done to both make this trip happen and confirm it since my last post, very few people would believe me. I needed the finances and freedom to go and the Lord provided me with a renter for my place (she's a Christian and was also blessed by it). I wasn't sure how I'd pay for the school and living expenses in Zanzibar for almost five months- well, about three weeks ago Captain Steve and Debbie Straw took me out on their sailboat and we ended up discussing the possibilities of working together to fix up and flip forclosure properties in Charlotte, N.C. To make a long story short, I believe my money is working for me even as I'm here, paying for this trip! There is more, but I have to share this one- The only human I have as a contact on the island is a pastor Dickson, who pastors a church near Stone Town where I believe the school to be (yes, I'm still not sure :) Well guess who I wound up in line with to get on the plane in Amsterdam- if that's not the craziest confirmation, I'll shave my head and you can call me sweet, sweet, Sally! If someone tried to figure out what the odds where of me picking my birthday to leave and Pastor Dickson flying back home on the same flight (of which Northwest has 15,000 a day, and Tanzanians rarely leave their home country), I'm sure the number would fill up this screen! Anyway, I exchanged some money, found a taxi driver to take me to the hotel, and instantly smiled when I smelled the air- very distinct and certainly unforgettable. I will leave tomorrow morning for Zanzibar. Thank you all for your prayers and support- they are not in vain, for I believe God has his hand on this trip- how could I not?
